Dan Kirk, The Juggler With The Yellow Shoes, has been performing full-time as a school assembly presenter and family entertainer since 1993.
Comedy, juggling, audience participation, and the use of volunteers, are included in every show. Strolling entertainment is also available for your needs.
There have been a couple of things that have caused business to come to halt over those nearly 30 years of performing. When the economy tanked in 2008 was one of those times. Summer fairs and festivals happened that year and the years to follow, but it was like starting over with the school systems again. With some hard work school gigs eventually came back to about 50% of what they were in 2007.
Then the whole world knows what happened in 2020. All my gigs were cancelled. I learned to do school assemblies virtually. I also did a library show or two virtually. Not the way performing was meant to be but it was some work. I did very few virtual gigs. Fortunately some government funds were available for us performers to survive. I was able to make it through 2020 and 2021 with some governmental help and with the few gigs I did get and with some odd jobs that I took.
All governmental help ended in 2021. I have my first, yes first, in school live performance next week. It is the one and only school assembly scheduled for the ’21/’22 school year. If you know of a school or schools that would like an awesome, educational, and fun assembly, please pass on my name. I’d really like to get back into performing in the schools. I have some county fairs booked for the summer of 2022. I’m grateful for that! Summer is about 1/2 of what it has been before Covid.
